International Orangutan Day
Today we celebrate Southeast Asia’s iconic ape – the orangutan.
But celebrating wildlife also means asking how we can protect it.
Wildlife rescue centers play an important role in responding to the consequences of human-wildlife conflict, illegal wildlife trade, and habitat loss. They also have the opportunity to educate visitors and inspire greater support for wildlife protection.
Under the theme Merging Animal Rescue and Ecotourism for Wildlife Conservation, this year’s WARN Asia Conference will explore how rescue, conservation, education, community engagement, and responsible tourism can work together for wildlife.
