Organisations in Asia Collaborate to Combat the Illegal Wildlife Trade
The Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand is honoured to host the second WARN Asia Illegal Wildlife Trade Workshop from 10 to 12 March 2025.
This three-day workshop will feature presentations and collaborative working group sessions focused on tackling the illicit wildlife trade. The event aims to equip both governmental and non-governmental organisations with the tools needed to address this pressing issue effectively. Collaboration is essential to eradicating this transnational crime.
The illegal wildlife trade is one of the world’s most lucrative criminal enterprises, with an estimated annual black market value exceeding USD 20 billion.
South and East Asia, renowned for their rich biodiversity, have long been major hubs for wildlife trafficking. As a result, global wildlife populations are experiencing drastic declines. Endangered species across the region face severe threats, including habitat loss, climate change, human-wildlife conflict, and poaching.
Delegates from Indonesia, India, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Singapore, Laos, Malaysia, and the Republic of Korea will take part in the workshop.
